The Curse of Powerpoint

There I was reading the Sunday Times this past Sunday drinking a cup of coffee when I saw this piece of news. As a marketing communications consultant who has used my fair share of PowerPoint presentations, I just had to share it.
The Curse of PowerPoint
A single-issue political party is campaigning for Switzerland to be the first country to eradicate the “disease” of the PowerPoint presentation. The Anti-PowerPoint party claims it has nearly 1,000 members and insists that worldwide, businesses could save more than £300 billion each year by bringing back flip-charts to replace electronic slide projections.
Only one thing interests this party: the disaster caused by PowerPoint,” said the party founder, Matthias Pohm. “I am like a doctor who looks out the window and sees people suffering from a disease.
I went online to search for Matthiam Pohm. Turns out that he is a Swiss public speaking coach and his goal is to speak for 250 million screamingly bored workers across the globe while becoming the fourth-largest political party in Switzerland. His website, http://www.Anti-PowerPoint-Party.com, comes in eight languages.
There is a good article by Josh Rubin over The Star.com
Do you agree? Do you think that PowerPoint is a disease in corporate boardrooms?
