It was mid-term for us last week. This meant Luke, who is 7 was off school. Now, I’m going to share something personal. (Don’t judge me!)
On the weekend, we have crunchy nut cornflakes! They are a weekend treat.
So on Monday, Luke asked me for Crunchy Nut cornflakes because he was on holidays. I said no. Tuesday, he asked again. I said no. Wednesday, I said no. Thursday, he asked again. I said no. Friday, I said yes.
And the reason why I said yes was because I loved his persistence.
When was the last time you asked the same question every day when you got a No every day?
It didn’t bother him at all. Every day he asked. That’s why on Friday I said yes.
I want you to think about that. As children, No meant no that day. Not No forever. But yet now as entrepreneurs or business executives, if we asked for a sale or a follow up and got no, say 1 or 2 times out of 10 that would be the end of it. We wouldn’t ask again.
The key for successful sales is always in the follow-up. The persistence.
