From Hot Pink Manolos to Black Suede Moccasins

This morning, I walked a mile in size 10 Black Suede Moccasins. I sat through an induction training session for an hour with new recruits. I learned about the importance of customer value and lifetime model and how it should be at the core of everything the new recruits do.  I sat in a pitch presentation to discover why a major business should hire me. I ate a cajun chicken sandwich with bacon and mayo while creating my list of customers to call that day.

And why did I wear these size 10 shoes?

To understand what it’s like to be  my customer. There’s an old saying that says if you want to know someone, walk a mile in their shoes. In order for me to be creative about how to promote his business, I need to go about the day like him and really understand what it’s like for him and how he deals with this staff, prospects and customers.

(As for the sandwich, I’m just very fond of cajun chicken wraps with bacon and mayo!).

For now, I’m glad to be putting my own shoes on for the afternoon, but isn’t it time that you tried on some Jimmy Choos or Caterpillars?

Give it a go – you will be amazed at what you’ll find out.
