How to write a press release

There are hundreds of ways in which to market a business. One of the most well-known but feared methods is that of PR – Press Relations. It’s one of the best ways to get in front of a large target market but when I mention the word ‘press relations strategy‘ to many small businesses, they flinch. Writing a press release and talking to a journalist strikes fear into the heart of many a small business owner.

Public Relations (PR) as a marketing method of getting your name, your product or service ‘out there‘ is often regarded as one of the free methods of publicity. But like your mum used to say, “there is no such thing as a free lunch”. PR takes time, it takes interest, it takes commitment.

But when it’s done properly, you will reap the benefits. You can build a lot of credibility and visibility through PR.
